Flying Falcons
The Flying
Falcons program is an academic support program that matches college mentors,
high school mentors or Frost staff members with a Frost student for
after school homework help. Children are placed in the program by teacher recommendation.
Tutoring
1st and 2nd graders meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 - 5:00 pm. 3rd,
4th and 5th graders meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:30 pm. During
the first hour of the program, students work with a
mentor or they may be placed in a TLC (Teacher Led Center) with a Frost staff
member. During this time, students will work on reading, writing, spelling
assignments and mathematics. Flying Falcon staff provide personalized packets
of work to be covered by the volunteer mentors and their students.
Activity Time
After the academic portion of the program is completed, students may participate
in supervised activities. These activities include organized sports, outdoor
recess, open computer labs, board games, crafts and Bingo. Children choose on
a daily basis which activity they wish to participate in.
